Daman trip
Starring : Bkgupta Pawan Gupta and K.Ravinder
Read a lot about Damans beaches, being Indias best beaches and all that.We planned to take a look at the so called best beaches. We catch a laloo da gaadi to vapi( Gujrat). At vapi, decided to have some gujju stuff for breakfast, ordered kaman(dhokla), not bad. Called a meeting to work on our plan for the day.BkGupta got lot of information on places to visit around vapi from the net. We had two places to visit, selvassa(20 km east of vapi) and daman(15 km west of vapi). We had planned to see the sun set at daman beach.
We catch a rick to selvassa. Selvassa had a art museum. Abandoned the plan to visit the museum. Again we take BkGupta's printout to workout on what to visit next. Decided to go to a place called khanvel. On reaching khanvel we ask the localites whats khanvel famous for, come to know that its known for its gardens. We didn't come all the way to see gardens. So had some kaman again, to work out new plan. After disussions and cancellations, we concluded to atleast visit Mahduban Dam for its breath taking view.
Took a bus to rokholi. First thing we see is a kaman and lassi house. Food is my achilles heel(in my case its stomach). Had three varieties of kaman(still don't know the difference). Took a rick to the dam. Whats so breath taking about the dam, i still have to figure out. I think that the one who wrote it on the net must have slipped into the dam. Anyways we left the dam with hope that may be the daman beaches may live up to the expectation, as described on the net.
Daman had two beaches the devka beach and Jaypore beach. We didn't have time to visit both of them in a single day. The taxi driver suggested that the Jaypore beach is not so famous, people don't go there. Devka beach was our choice trusting the taxi driver. But the beach was the biggest disappointment of our trip. I will skip the description for your imagination just by saying that Juhu beach is much better than the Devka beach. I concluded never to trust the stuff you read on the net(including this blog). Anyways sat down on some rocks for the earth to rotate on its axis, so that we can see the sun setting. That was amazing or i shall say breath taking view. Felt like the sun was being dipped into the arabian sea. Daman is a good place for people who like to booze(for the ones who are staying in a dry state like gujju land). We travelled a lot, two states and two union territories.
My suggestion to the non alcoholic people who want to go to Daman is, please go to Jaypore beach and tell me is worth a visit. I almost forgot Happy New Year.

Nice trip. Thanks for sharing your trip experience. Bestowed with a captivating historical past, Daman has a strong colonial Portugal flavour. From the busy beach huts to the colonial forts, the town offers a refreshing respite from the maddening chaos of cities. A treat for explorers, photographers, researches and nature enthusiasts, the city is a cultural and historical heaven. Check out all best places to visit in Daman also.
