Mad about Soccer
Nothing to blog, back to my fav subject soccer. Looking at the strengths and weakness of the top teams in Europe (mostly its english i will be looking at).
Chelsea: One man, Makelele, Real Madrids loss is Chelseas gain. He is the primary reason why chelsea had so many clean sheets. He is the one picking up, breaking the attacks of the other teams. No doubt they had good attacking plays, so what, many teams have. But other don't have Makelele. Edgar Davids used to as sharp and hard as Makelele, but now he is nowhere to be seen.
Arsenal: Defence let them down, they were missing the experience of Sol Campbell. Viera was inconsistent in the mid field. Players like Edu, Gilberto were in and out of the team due to injury. They are good defensive mid field players. If they played their part, story would have been different.
Manchester United: Old horse Roy Keane. Or the Mid field. Roy Keane is still the inspiration for the team. But age is factor he has to fight. He is the reason why Man U won so many titles, but right now they have to find a replacement for him. He is not as sharp as he used to be. He should be brought in as a sub.
Liverpool: Very inconsistent performance. CL winners and fifth in the EPL. Again Hamann changed everthing in the finals. Poor performance from the strikers. Morienties could not score for them in the EPL. But Rafa tactics are clear, defense win's matches.
Barcelona: They should have signed Edgar Davids. He was on loan from Juv. They let him go. Remember Juv - Real Semi finals 3-1, that day Makelele was suspended. Edgar Davids was neutralizing all the Zidanes, Figos and Ronaldos. Missed lot of players due to injury.Weakness Mainly Midfield players(defensive) and very inconsistent goalkeeper.
Real Madrid: Weakness, AGE. Everyone maybe star but, age is catching them. They need to find the right combination of age and young talent. Experience and youth. And of course the defense and defensive midfield.
AC Milan: Look at the players they have. They are one of the best teams in the world. They should win everything. What went wrong? Can't say its was not their day. Or it was Liverpools and RAFA's Day. Dida is inconsistent in the goal.

Football season over Sari. And anyway in this competitive world it's hard to predict what will happen. Since I don't follow such games ardently, hence have noticed lots of anamolies to believe that it could be anyone's game. Ofcourse that is what keeps us glued to TV :)
